Q: While staying at Pictou Lodge, my mother saw an article about Nova Scotia's first Zip Line being opened somewhere in Pictou County. I was fortunate enough to do a Zip Line in Connecticut last summer and would love to do an even longer one here when it opens. Has anyone heard anything about it? I can't find any news articles or web pages online.
A: I have searched and searched for an answer to this and have only come up with a couple of possibilities. The Boy Scouts will to going to Cape Breton in 2009 and are doing a 400 foot Zip Line there during their ScoutJam. There was a newspaper article about the Rising Sun Program at Camp Peniel in Cedar Lake, Yarmouth County This program has 100 foot Zip Line and is for physically and mentally challenged children between the ages of seven to 18. This may have been the article your mom read. Christine Long, executive director for Camp Peniel says the camp plans on adding a zip line. Yarmouth County Community Health Board runs Camp Peniel. Kingswood Camp is an evangelical Christian camp situated on Lake George, Kings County, Nova Scotia also has a Zip Line.
