A: Guest Service Reps are the employees that do a lot of Customer Service like computer transactions or walking the sales floor. They also do basic cleaning. The position most employees get when they start. Shift Leaders are the managers that are over the GSR's and basically manage the store during their shift. Some of their responsibilities include: Opening/Closing the store, dealing with upset customers, managing the GSR's, and basically taking care of any problems that may occur. They also do a lot of customer transactions on the computer. Depending on the Store Director these can be different. I work in a store that is a little smaller and so the shift leaders and guest service reps do a lot of the same work just so the store looks good and the customers are happy when we go home. The only major differences are that the shift leaders are in charge of counting all of the money and locking up the store at night. Obviously shift leaders get paid a little bit more.
