USPS Package taking too long?

Q: I recently bought something on ebay. It was sent on August 29th 2008. It is now September 15th, and still nothing. The seller gave me a confirmation number. I called the USPS and they said the seller sent it "first class", which happened to be one of the slowest ways...kindof a contridicting statement no? I've called 7 times and I hate calling. Twice I had 2 of the nicest people, and the other were horrible, but I mean horrible customer service. When I track online all it says is acceptance on August 29th 2008, nothing else. When I asked USPS they said because he only paid for delivery confirmation meaning I get no updates either than when he sent it and when it was delivered so that's of no help. They told me it takes 6-9 Business days for a first class package to go from Utah to NY. They said today was the 9th business day. I plan on calling, even though I'm sure I'll get horrible service again. What should I ask and do? Even though it was sent cheaply, it still should not take 16 days for any package within the US to get delivered in this day and age... What to do?

A: Ask the seller to make a Lost Mail Report since it has been more than 14 days after the date of mailing. This is done online now. First Class Mail is NOT one of the slower classes of mail, that would be Package Services as the transportation for Package Services is all by ground. The average for FCM is 3-5 days. as with any average, some will take longer. It will do you no good to continue to call your Post Office. They can not deliver what is not there. Delivery Confirmation is NOT tracking in the true sens of the word. If you break it down, it is "Confirmation" of "Delivery", nothing more. You may send the DC number to me and I will see what I can dig up about the package.
