A: Typically, "thrift stores" are run by charities who sell only donated goods. However, most cities have similar "resale stores" that may buy good quality used (nearly new) items. Some operate only on consignment but in our area there are several that buy items outright. Be prepared to get less than you might get at a consignment shop, since the owner of the resale store is taking the risk that your stuff won't sell.
